Showing WordPress instead of describing it: our YouTube channel is live

From today, hafenstudios comes as video as well. Every episode solves a real task in the real interface, names the version on screen, points out a limit, and hands you a link where you can try the same thing straight away.

A plugin is hard to explain in sentences. You can write down that a template wizard has four fields and drops the finished box in after the second paragraph, and it still leaves open how that feels and how many minutes it costs. Software has to be seen. That is why hafenstudios has had a channel of its own since today: @hafenstudios, launched on 6 September 2026 with the first video.

The hafenstudios YouTube channel with the first video about Hafenstudios Ads Video 001: Your own offer in every WordPress post 4:02 minutes, shown in Hafenstudios Ads 2.5.0 · One click, and only then, loads content from YouTube

Four things that go into every video

We gave ourselves four rules before the first recording ran. They hold for every video on the channel.

  • Real clicking in the real interface. What you see is the recording of a running WordPress backend, with the clicks, the waiting and the fields that are actually there. Animated recreations look prettier and help you less afterwards.
  • The version on screen is named. Video 001 shows Hafenstudios Ads 2.5.0. Interfaces change, and a video without a version number ages quietly, until somebody goes looking for a button that no longer exists in that form.
  • One honest limit. Every video says where the feature on screen ends and which part of it requires Pro. Someone who knows after four minutes what they are getting is a better user than someone who finds out after the install.
  • A demo link. Every video comes with an address that opens the same environment in your browser.

The demo link is the real difference

The first video comes with hafenstudios.com/go/ads-demo/. The link opens a complete WordPress in your browser window, with the plugin installed and the example post from the recording. You install nothing, you sign in nowhere, and once you close the tab the environment is gone again. That turns watching into trying, before any real website hears anything about it. The German version sits at hafenstudios.com/go/ads-demo/de/.

The voice belongs to Horst, a machine spoke it

What you hear is Horst Wenzel's own voice, cloned from his recordings and generated by machine. We say that openly, because you can hear it and because an explanation is more pleasant than a suspicion. The screen recording underneath stays real operation: what happens on screen happened exactly like that, at the speed it happened.

What comes next

The next videos stay with Hafenstudios Ads for now, because the plugin sits free in the WordPress directory and anyone can follow along. Planned so far are AdSense with Consent Mode, two ads in a split test, moving existing ads over from another ad plugin, and a video about what the plugin actually stores in the database. After that it is the turn of the rest of the fleet, plus a case study on the speed of the Hafen theme.

We are naming no dates for that, and we are promising no fixed number of videos per week either. Today the channel holds exactly one video. Anyone who wants to know when the second one arrives is best off subscribing and switching on notifications.

Criticism is expressly welcome

The best reason for us to go public at all is being contradicted. In August the channel WordPress103 tested our ad plugin, named three weaknesses and set off an entire plugin version. How that turned out is in our post about that review. So if you spot a detour in a video, a missing field or a claim you see differently, write it in the comments. That is the fastest route to an answer in code.

Why English? The videos run in English and with an English interface, because WordPress is used all over the world. Topics with a German angle also get a German version over the same recording, as with this first video.

Frequently asked questions

How often do new videos appear?

We are not committing to a rhythm. The channel launched on 6 September 2026 with the first video, and the further topics are settled without us naming dates for them. If you do not want to miss anything, subscribe to the channel and switch on notifications.

Do I have to install anything to follow along?

No. Every video comes with a demo link that opens a complete WordPress with the plugin on screen in your browser. It runs in WordPress Playground, without an account and without an install. Close the tab and the environment disappears again.

Is the voice in the video real?

The voice is Horst Wenzel's own, cloned from his recordings and generated by machine. The screen content, on the other hand, is an unedited recording of real operation. We say both in every video.

What does the plugin from the first video cost?

Hafenstudios Ads is free in the official WordPress directory, under GPLv2. The Pro version adds individual features and is not needed for the route shown in the video. Details are on the product page.
